Speakers and Topics

This webinar will feature talks by two leading scientists from the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS):

Dr. Elena Tomilovskaya, Head of the Laboratory of Sensory-motor physiology and countermeasures, will discuss “Physiological effects of microgravity in Dry Immersion ground-based model with potential use in precision medicine.

Dr. Sergey Ponomarev, Head of the Immune System Physiology Laboratory, will present on “Human immunity and precision medicine data during space flight and in ground analogues.

About IBMP

IBMP is a world leader in space biomedicine research, having supported over 150 human spaceflights starting with Yuri Gagarin’s historic first flight in 1961. The institute develops technologies and conducts studies to enable orbital and interplanetary missions as well as advance healthcare on Earth. Some noteworthy IBMP projects include:

  • Arranging spaceflights of dogs that paved the way for human spaceflight
  • Ongoing research using the “Dry Immersion” ground-based microgravity model
  • The current SIRIUS-23 one-year isolation study simulating a deep space mission
